This Is What Happened...

My name is Kellie Kinnett and I have 5 beautiful children. Kollin, 14 Kerigan 13, Kenna 8, Koryn 5, and Khadija 2. My children are my life…

I live in Dayton, Ohio and have been impacted by the Child Protection System. Prior to Montgomery County Children Services involvement, my family was living our lives peacefully and without any need for assistance. In June 2021, Children Services ignored this fact and continued to investigate my family after I willingly went to the hospital to seek help for my anxiety. I did not know that my choice to be proactive and seek help would be twisted and reported to Children’s Services. My children were never in danger and I made a plan for my children to stay with my mother while I was in the hospital.

During the investigation, my family was subjected to numerous phone calls and home visits from the caseworker who showed clear bias towards me. Instead of gathering the facts about the allegations, the caseworker used her personal feelings about my relationship with my fiancé, Willie, as safety concerns for my children.  Everything that I did and said was twisted and used against me to help paint Willie as a villain rather than the strong father figure he was to my children. The photos below show how my children truly feel about Wiilie.

Children's Services Files a Dependency Complaint

In October of 2021, Children Services filed a dependency complaint to order me to comply with their unnecessary services. The case worker was also able to intimidate my adult step daughter, Kali Kinnett, into filing for custody of my children which they then used to recommend that I only have limited supervised visitation with my children. Kali Kinnett is attempting to alienate me from my children in order to turn them against me.  My children are not being fed positive words about me and that hurts my relationship with them.  It also hurts my children mentally, to hear things that are not truthful.  Their best interest is not being taken into consideration and I have serious concerns for their overall safety while in Kali’s care. I have reported these concerns to the case worker, but my concerns continue to be ignored.

While having to live through this nightmare, tragedy struck our family. My fiancé, Willie passed away on Sunday March 20, 2022 and his passing has left a void in all of our hearts. Our family wants to be able to heal but we are unable to do so while under the scrutiny of the Court. After Willie’s death, the caseworker began to report concerns for my children’s safety with me since Willie could no longer be a target for her fabricated allegations.

That’s it. That sums up the allegations reported to Montgomery County Children's Services which was inevitably used to file a dependency complaint against me.  I have done everything requested of me to prove that I am not a danger to my children.  I am heartbroken due to the strict limitations that have been put on my contact with the babies I gave birth to. I am their mother and my babies need me to be an active part of their lives. I am calling on the community to ensure justice prevails.

Currently in America, if a caseworker has a personal vendetta against parents, it can cost them custody of their children. I never thought that I would be in this situation  and that I would be fighting for custody of my own children, the human beings that I gave birth to and raised.

If this can happen to me, it can happen to anybody. Children's Services is able to continue to get away with this because people are not standing up to this injustice. People are not taking action to make others pay attention to the problem. I will not allow this to happen to my children and I am asking that you join me!
